NAMA Director, Farouk Umar to get national honour from Buhari.
For his outstanding performance in aviation safety and team work that has restored the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) to its rightful place in airspace safety management, Director Safety Electronics and Engineering Services NAMA, Engr. Farouk Ahmed Umar will on Thursday be among individuals to be honoured by President Muhammadu Buhari for nation building.
President has approved the conferment of the National Productivity Order of Merit Award on Farouk Umar in recognition of ‘his high productivity, hard work and excellence.
According to a letter from the Office of the Minister of Labour and Employment dated November 18, 2019 and signed by the Minister, Dr. Chris Ngige, Farouk Umar recommendation was based on the report of the National Productivity Order of Merit Award Committee after a vigorous selection process.
The award ceremony which will be chaired by President Buhari has been scheduled to take place on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at the NAF Conference Centre and Suites close to Next Cash and Carry, Kado, Abuja.
Farouk Umar was in 2016 appointed Director, Safety Electronics and Engineering Services (DSEES) NAMA.
A 1988 graduate and was until his appointment the General Manager, Special Project Unit, Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA).
He had served at top management level in various capacities as Airspace Manager, Minna Airport.
He was also General Manager, Procurement at NAMA Headquarters in Lagos.
He bagged Bachelor Engineering from the Federal University (FUT), Minna; Masters in International Affairs and Diplomacy from the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria; Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Lagos State University.
Umar is member, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (MCOREN); member Nigerian Society of Engineers (MNSE); member Chartered Institute of Administration (MCIA); member, chartered Institute of Supply and Purchase and Management.
