Passengers groan as unions shut Arik

Uncertainty pervaded the air as hundreds of Arik passengers were unsure of their fate as the aviation unions picketed the airline.

 

At the headquarters of the airline, mobile policemen and many union members were seen at the huge entrance gates preventing people from going in and out of the airline’s head office.

They had besieged the area as early as 6am to make good their threat to close down the airline for alleged non payment of workers alleged seven months salaries and allowances.

 

The story was pathetic for London bound passengers who expressed disappointment over the who situation.

Many of them who were oblivious of the situation had arrived the Lagos international airport full of hopes of travelling only for their hope to be dashed.

 

They formed a long queue with the plan to check in but with no soul at the counters to check them in for 12 noon flight.

 

One of the intended travellers alleged that nobody from the airline came to tell them what was going on, as many of them planned to go home.
