Omni-Blu boosts home grown talents, invests N10m on flight dispatchers

To boost human capital development in the nation’s aviation industry,  Omniblu Aviation Limited has Omni-Blu Aviation Limited has spent N10 million in training of five flight dispatchers whom the firm has engaged.

 

This according to a statement, follows the dispatchers’ successful outing at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) flight dispatch examinations, having already gone through the basic and advanced Flight Dispatch courses with Landover and Aeroconsult training schools.

The five dispatchers are Mr. Douglas Musa, Mr. Olusegun Awe, Mr. Tolulope Rahman, and Mr. Samuel Eziukwu.

The firm according to the statement, now has five flight dispatchers, all trained by the company from scratch. The fifth person is Adebola Ilori who has been in the company’s employ for a while.

 

Chief Executive, Omni-Blu Aviation, Capt. Sunny Adegbuyi, said by this action, “We added to the pool of home-grown licensed professionals in the aviation industry and contributed to the National Content Development initiative of the Federal Government. We have also demonstrably done something about the unemployment situation in the country.”

He noted that the feat is even more praise-worthy against the backdrop that Omni-Blu Aviation only received its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) (Passenger and Cargo) in December 2015 from the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and began operations in June 2016.

He added : “Within the short period of a little over one and a half years of operations, we have been able to churn out five flight dispatchers.

 

“We should also state that it is our culture, to train and re-train our personnel to the highest professional levels possible. To demonstrate this, we are sending one of the qualified dispatchers, Mr. Olusegun Awe to the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, Zaria, to take a Basic Aviation Planning Operation and Management (BAPOM) course, which should start in July.”

He congratulated the newly qualified dispatchers, the board, management and staff of Omni-Blu Aviation Limited who made the feat possible through their support, the Nigerian aviation industry, especially the regulators who he said continues to support the airline, and the Federal Government that has made it a duty to promote patronage of local goods and services.

 

Adegbuyi said : “We believe that the Nigerian workforce is as rich as any other is, if not better. All we need do is to provide adequate training and exposure for our people and to continue to believe in them. Omni-Blu shall continue to champion this cause.

“Among the giant strides that we have made since 2016 are: Omni-Blu Aviation was granted Flag Carrier Status in August 2016 to operate nine international routes; is registered to operate as an oil industry service company with the Department of Petroleum Resources and is registered on the NIPEX eMarket for the provision of offshore helicopter services.”

 

He said that the company recently signed a Joint Venture and Mutual Cooperation Agreement worth over $40m with Sterling Square Capital Partners.
