New Dawn As Suleiman Emerges LAAC Chairman, Elects New Exco

The League of Airport and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC) has elected a new executive with Idris Suleiman emerging as the new Chairman.

In the election conducted at the Saleh Dunoma Press Centre at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Mr Abdullateef Aliyu was also elected as the Vice Chairman while Anthony Awunor emerged as the Secretary.

Others are Ifeoma Okeke (Assistant Secretary); Lamidi Morufu (Treasurer) and Pearl Ngwama (Auditor).

Suleiman, a Transport Editor with Blueprint Newspaper succeeds Mr Olusegun Koiki.

The elected officials who were sworn in immediately after the election by the LAAC Electoral Committee Chairman, Mr Franklin Ihejiirika are expected to serve the association for three years.

In his speech shortly after the swearing-in ceremony, Suleiman thanked all the voters for electing him as the new Chairman.

Suleiman pledged to collaborate with aviation industry stakeholders to improve the development of the industry.

He urged stakeholders to continue to collaborate with LAAC as the industry is in dire need of a positive narrative.

The LAAC Chairman said, “As the purveyor of development in the industry, LAAC will continue to scrutinize and join hands in the development of the sector as journalists”

“I am ready to take advice and if you have any that will move the association forward, please bring it up”, he added.

LAAC is Nigeria’s only aviation media umbrella body registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) saddled with the responsibility of ensuring effective media coverage and practice in the aviation industry.

Wole Shadare
