Fire outbreak causes panic at Lagos Airport
A major fire outbreak was today averted at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos.
The fire incident, which occurred at about noon emanated from the avio-bridge E-54 at the terminal.
It took the timely intervention of the fire fighters of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, for the fire and the smoke, which envelope the entire environment to be put off.

The reason for the fire incident remained unknown as at the time of filing this report, but a source close to the terminal said that incident may not be unconnected to the inferior cables used by the contractors in the recent remodeling exercise, supervised by former Minister of aviation, Stella Oduah.
Spokesperson for FAAN, Mr. Henrietta Yakubu confirmed the incident, adding that
power has been restored shortly after the spark that happened at the Finger Main Distribution Board at the E-Finger of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
She said a spark occurred at the E-Finger of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, at about 11.30am.
However, the engineers successfully corrected all defaults and normalcy was restored at affected areas.
While assuring airport users of safety and security at our airports, she said FAAN wishes to apologise to passengers, airlines and the general public for the inconvenience caused by this interruption.
