Fire guts Imo airport terminal building

A huge fire gutted many parts of the Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri destroying so many property. The fire was said said to have started at 2pm yesterday.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria confirmed the incident, saying incident that affected some parts of the terminal building of Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport, Owerri at about 1400hours.

Spokeswoman for FAAN, Mrs. Henrietta Yakubu in a statement said the fire was however curtailed swiftly by officers of the Aerodrome Rescue and Fire Fighting Services Department of FAAN.
She said there was no casualty and normal operations has since resumed at the airport. She added that the authority had commenced preliminary investigations into the cause of the incident.
