ASKY takes delivery of new Boeing 737 800
ASKY, the Pan African Airlines has taken delivery of its latest NextGen aircraft, the Boeing 737-800. The aircraft was received at Lomé (ASKY’s Hub).
Dignitaries at the event included the Togolese air transport industry authorities among whom were Colonel Gnama Dokissime, Director General of the National Civil Aviation Agency, Mr. Malik Natchaba, Director General of Lomé Tokoin Airport Company (SALT), the overall Managing committee of ASKY Airlines headed by Mr Yemane Fitwi, Director Finance and Strategic Planning who represented the CEO ASKY Airlines and other staff members.
This new plane has a seating capacity of 154 configured in twin cabin (16 in Business class and 138 in Economy class). It comes to reinforce the airline’s current fleet made up of four Bombardier Dash 8 (Q400) and 3 Boeing 737-700.
The Boeing 737-800 is among the most environmentally friendly aircraft as far as its fuel consumption and protection against noise are concerned.
The fuel consumption is less. With a dimension of 35.79m long and 39.50 m wingspan for a cruising speed of 850km/h, the Boeing 737-800, can easily contain two wheeled luggage making it possible to store up to 51 luggage in order to maximize storage space.
The introduction of this aircraft of a bigger capacity comes as an answer to the market need but will also empower the network by offering more flight frequencies and destinations and will moreover, offer more flexibility in order to plan for intercontinental flights beyond the sub-region.
This aircraft will be immediately made available to satisfy the need on the Dakar route with direct regular flights from Lomé, the airline’s hub.
ASKY is the Pan African Airlines. It was created by regional institutions including ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development (EBID), the West African Development Bank and ECOBANK Group. The company is a private commercial institution managed by very experienced professionals from all over Africa.
ASKY currently operates a New Generation fleet of seven aircraft including three Boeing 737 700 and four (4) Dash Q-400. The company currently provides services to twenty-two cities in nineteen countries in West and Central Africa.
