Qantas Reports 500,000 Bookings As Borders Open
Several Australian states will open their borders to ease the nationwide restrictions imposed since the Covid-19 outbreak in November 2019.
The Australian flag carrier, Qantas Airways reported that over 500,000 domestic bookings in the past two weeks as several states begin to open their borders, according to Reuters.
“Travel demand and confidence levels are high.
Domestically, the crucial Melbourne-Sydney route started to ramp up, and most states have outlined their plans to open their borders before Christmas, the busiest travel time of the year,” Qantas Chief Executive, Alan Joyce said.
The airline promised to provide a detailed update on the market as the international travel segment begins to recover.
Australia announced on Monday that different states will open their borders to ease the nationwide restrictions imposed since the COVID-19 outbreak in November 2019.
Qantas confirmed in October that all of its 11,000 staff currently on unpaid leave will return to work by December to keep up with the growing travel demand.
