Turkish Airlines was the busiest operator in Europe last week after resuming domestic and international passenger operations.

Airlines have started to resume service on some routes after weeks of being grounded by travel restrictions related to the coronavirus pandemic.

On June 17, Turkish Airlines had 400 flights in Eurocontrol’s area, the largest number of any airline since 24 March.

Eurocontrol reported that that Turkey’s national flag carrier operated 359 flights during the first week of June from its hub at Istanbul Airport.

On June 14, 2020, three aircraft took off simultaneously with the opening of Istanbul Airport’s third independent runway.

“It is our firm belief that once the world overcomes the crisis, air travel will bounce back stronger than ever,” said Ilker Ayci, Turkish Airlines’ chairman.

Turkish Airlines has overhauled its in-flight experience to lower the risk of infection on-board. It is distributing hygiene kits and disinfecting aircraft as part of its measures.
