Oyo, NAMA in strategic partnership to transform Ibadan airport
The Managing Director of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Ahmed Umar Farouk has held a strategic meeting with the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde over the planned transformation of the Ibadan Airport into a world-class facility. This ambitious project aims to significantly enhance passenger experience, boost air traffic, and drive economic growth in Oyo State and the entire Southwest region.
Governor Makinde has not hidden his desire to upgrade the Ibadan airport with world-class facilities and to make it one of the best aerodromes in Nigeria.

Farouk on his social media handle stated that the Oyo State Government’s dedication to investing in the airport’s development reflects a deep understanding of how critical infrastructure can unlock economic potential and improve the lives of the people.
The modernization, he reiterated aligns perfectly with the Federal Government’s vision to strengthen Nigeria’s aviation sector and promote regional connectivity.
According to the NAMA MD, “We both agreed on the importance of expediting the project. The goal is to deliver a modern airport that meets global standards, making Ibadan a preferred gateway for travelers and businesses alike. This initiative will create jobs, boost tourism, and strengthen business opportunities, positioning Ibadan as a key player in Nigeria’s aviation landscape.”

“I am genuinely excited about this collaboration and the positive impact it will bring to the good people of Oyo State. It’s a testament to what can be achieved when federal and state governments work hand in hand toward a common goal. I remain committed to ensuring that this vision becomes a reality.”
