I ill not allow you mess me up, Keyamo tells newly appointed CEOs, directors

Urges appointees to resign if….

Ministries assessment to begin Q2 2024-Uaman

Aviation Minister and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo has told newly appointed Chief Executive Officers and directors of all aviation agencies that he would not allow them to mess him up in the poor discharge of their duties.

He stated this in Abuja at the in-house inauguration/induction for the newly appointed Chief Executive Officers and Directors of the aviation agencies.

The highlight of the induction was the signing of a performance bond with the Minister.

He equally said anyone nursing the ambition of seeing his appointment as an avenue to enrich himself should tender his resignation, saying he would be more critical with them to bring out their best in service to the people.

He warned them that he would be the first to hand them over anti anti-graft agencies if they were found embezzling public funds.

“I will not tolerate non-performance. If the reason for serving is to make money, please quickly tender your resignation letter now. I promise to hand over anyone found embezzling the government’s funds. I will not allow anyone to mess me up”.

Some of his five-point agenda is to attract Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and joint-venture partnerships with heads of international economic organisations, presidents of transnational corporations, and principals of leading privately-owned enterprises.

Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination, Hadiza Bala Usman has said that the Presidency would begin to assess the Key Performance Indicators (KPI) of all the Ministries including the agencies under them by the first quarter of 2024.

NAMA MD, Farouk signs performance bond with Keyamo

The Minister had last month told journalists that because of the performance bond he signed, it would be for his underperforming Chief executives to go before he gets sacked by President Bola Tinubu.

A few weeks after the statement, all aviation CEOs and directors were sacked in one fell swoop to ginger what some said a new beginning for the troubled aviation industry.

Usman noted that the aviation industry like other Ministries and MDAs is the focus of the government because of the strategic nature of the sector, stressing that many of the CEOS and Ministers would be held accountable for the success or failure of their agency.

She hinted that the sector must show clear direction and do things differently from what it used to be.

She said, “The KPI of all ministries will be strictly monitored and published to make Nigerians know what the Ministers and his agencies’ CEOs have done through citizens’ trackers. The assessment will be data-driven through the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) to determine their performance”.

She reminded the inductees that their ministers had already signed a performance bond with President Tinubu and pleaded with them to hold the government to deliver on its Renew Hope agenda.
