Less than one week after French Government evacuated 260 of its nationals and others from Lagos airport another batch of evacuees were airlifted from Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos to Israel.
A charter plane which was deployed took off from the airport at 11.55hrs via Abuja to Israel.
The airplane carrying 87 persons, 70 Israelis evacuees and 17crew operated under ‘Essential ‘Flight with the permission of the Federal Government through the Ministry of Aviation.
The aircraft departed the airport at 11.55hrs to Israel via Abuja.
On April 2nd and April 9th, 2020, Air France will be airlifting another batch of evacuees from Nigeria under essential flights.
The airline had already been granted permission to operate the flights.
Last week, it airlifted 260 nationals from Europe. The Air France aircraft which touched down at the Lagos at about 2.05hrs departed at 15.44hrs.
Last week, Air France airlifted 260 of its nationals to Paris via Lagos airport with the permission granted it by the Federal Government to operate essential flights to evacuate different nationals out of the country to Paris.
The aircraft which came in via Cotonou came in at 2.05pm and with the pre-boarding formalities completed, the nationals boarded the aircraft which took off at about 3.44pm Nigerian time.
The airline through its General Manager, in a letter seek permission for the airline to land in Lagos to evacuate Dutch and French citizens stock in Nigeria after the closure of all the major international airports to international flights.
In a reply to the request, the Nigeria Government through the Ministry of Aviation granted the permission for the Air France/KLM flight to operate on the platform of essential flights.
The Ministry of Aviation in a letter signed by the Director, Air Transport Management, M.S Naibi for the Minister of Aviation, says the airline must operate strictly based on the protocol guiding this kind of operation under the COVID-19 as issued by the Nigerian Aeronautical Authorities.
