Consummate business man, Adebanjo emerges chairman, American Express Nigeria

The American Express Company, also known as Amex, an American multinational financial services corporation headquartered in Three World Financial Center in New York City has named Chief John Adebanjo the chairman of Amex Nigeria, the Nigerian outfit of the American multinational financial services corporation.
 
He emerged as the chairman of American Express Global Business Travel Nigeria following the acquisition of a controlling stake in the Nigerian unit of American Express by the ALML.
 
The consummate business man has excelled in virtually all his business concern and reputed to be one of the people that brought Virgin Atlantic to Nigeria.
The Chief Operating Officer,  American Express Global Business Travel Africa, Louis Van Zyl, said the company was proud to have Adebanjo as the chairman if its Nigerian unit following its partnership with ALML.  
 
According to him, the corporate travel arm of American Express has been in Nigeria for over 12 years and is ready to take on new growth phase with the partnership with ALML.
 
He said American Express Global Business Travel Nigeria partnership with the ALML was part of the strategic growth plan of the American company.
 
The American company, according to Van Zyl, will leverage ALML’s over three decades of cognate industry experience in the global travel sector and Nigeria to break new grounds and expand the market share of American Express in Nigeria and other regions in Africa.

The COO said, “I think in terms of what we were looking for, someone that can supplement our services. We were looking at synergy. ALML experience and knowledge in that segment of the service which we don’t have is really what we are looking for. 
 
“We bring in the American Express brand. We also bring in the global travel customer base of our customers into this partnership.  We will leverage the network of American express services worldwide and our partners.
 
“We are very proud of our new relationship with our new partner in Nigeria. We are looking at taking our company to the next level. We are looking at how to leave this position we are now and service our customers better; I think that our partnership with ALML puts us in a better position to be able to do that.”
 
He added, “It puts us in a position to expand into new scope of services and to position our clients for utmost services. We plan to look at the dynamics of the industry and use automation and technology to make us premier services provider.  We are looking at introducing some new online technology and position to be the best.”
 
An elated Adebanjo said ALML was proud of American Express as a global brand, adding that as the new chairman of the Nigerian unit, he said everything would be done to five business and leisure air travellers in Nigeria a new scope of services.  
 
His words, “We are a global brand and we are leveraging that to bring the best to our customers. We also have a robust ICT base and global network to give our customers global and international standard services. We have a system that can assist our customers anywhere in the world 24 hours and 365 days. American Express has presence in almost every country of this world. 
 
“This is a new level; we have been in the market studying the situation. We have fully understand what Nigeria needs and we are ready to serve.’’  
 
He added, “We have a robust structure on ground in which we have invested heavy funds. At American Express, we believe in what the government is doing to attract new investors. We believe in the programme and system of the government.”
