ASKY Bolsters West African Aviation Hub with Two New Boeing 737 MAX 8s
ASKY Airlines marked a major milestone this July with the delivery of two brand-new Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, reinforcing its commitment to sustainable, high-quality connectivity across Africa.
The first jet (registered ET-BCJ) touched down at the airline’s Lomé hub on July 5, followed shortly by the second aircraft (ET-BCK) on July 16.
Configured in a dual-class layout featuring 16 Business and 144 Economy seats, both planes promise enhanced passenger comfort alongside significant reductions in fuel consumption and carbon emissions.
With these additions, ASKY’s fleet expands to 17 aircraft—including eight 737 MAX 8s—solidifying its position as one of the youngest and most fuel-efficient fleets operating in the region.
Speaking at a welcome ceremony in Lomé, ASKY CEO Mr Esayas Woldemariam Hailu highlighted the strategic importance of the expansion:
“This delivery is a powerful statement of our resilience and long-term vision. It reflects the trust of our strategic partners, the dedication of our team, and the exemplary supportive environment fostered by the Government of Togo, which continues to champion Lomé as a premier aviation and logistics gateway. These aircraft will enhance schedule reliability, open new markets, and deliver the seamless travel experience our passengers expect, as we continue unifying Africa through air travel.”
The expanded fleet will support increased flight frequencies on high-demand routes and enable the launch of a new direct service between Lomé and Kano, Nigeria, starting August 5, 2026.
Commending the airline’s growth, Mr Comla Kadje, Togo’s Minister of Transport, Landlocked Areas Development and Rural Roads, noted that ASKY’s ongoing expansion aligns seamlessly with the national vision to elevate Togo as a regional trade and travel engine.
