Air Peace strengthens leadership pipeline with key flight operations appointments
In a strategic move to strengthen leadership capacity, deepen operational expertise, and sustain its growth trajectory, Air Peace, has promoted two senior flight crew members to key executive roles.
Effective November 1, 2026, Captain James Adaviruku Onipe will serve as Director of Flight Operations (DFO), while Captain Ikechukwu Paul-Ugochukwu will serve as Chief Pilot (CP).

The airline said the strategic appointments underscore its commitment to developing seasoned aviation professionals, strengthening its executive structure, and driving operational excellence.
Captain Onipe, an accomplished airline pilot with nearly two decades of experience across multiple aircraft fleets, previously served as Air Peace’s Embraer 145 Fleet Manager as well as a Trainer and Check Airman.
His expertise encompasses flight safety, crew proficiency, operational efficiency, and strict regulatory compliance.
Similarly, Captain Paul-Ugochukwu brings 22 years of rich aviation industry experience to his new role as Chief Pilot.
Prior to this appointment, he served as a Boeing 777 Type Rating Instructor and Check Airman, playing a vital role in pilot training, technical proficiency, and maintaining high operational standards.
The management changes follow the elevation of the outgoing Director of Flight Operations, Captain Augustin Kamano, and former Chief Pilot, Captain Martin Okunpolor, to higher leadership responsibilities within the broader Air Peace Group.
According to the airline, these transitions reflect its commitment to recognising internal experience, facilitating seamless career progression, and strengthening its executive pipeline.
As the handover process begins, Air Peace reaffirmed its focus on nurturing aviation talent, reinforcing professional standards, and expanding the leadership capacity needed to support its growing regional and international network.
Congratulating Captains Onipe and Paul-Ugochukwu on their new roles, the airline wished them success as they assume these critical responsibilities in advancing Air Peace’s long-term operational ambitions.
