This he stated, would in turn, positively impact the experience of all consumers of r services in the sector.

He stated that government is not unmindful of the challenges that may be facing the aviation industry in particular and the Nigeria flying public in general.

The Minister said it is this administration’s reassuring resolve and well thought-out intentions to address them squarely within the limits of available resources.

Sirika made the disclosure yesterday in his address at the 7th Nigerian Aviation Conference and Award (NIGAV) held in Lagos. He was represented by the Commissioner, Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB), Mr. Akin Olateru.

He there therefore craved and requested the understanding and support of everyone, in order for, “us to provide pragmatic and lasting solutions that would be sustainable in the long term.”

Sirika further stated that without gainsaying, hard work, dedication, forthrightness in compliance with safety and security regulatory requirements of the sector, and a customer centric attitude, are what the aviation industry requires to keep and guarantee the flying public’s safety.

He reiterated that a “positive passenger flying experience” is fundamental to sustaining growth of the industry, and the individuals and organizations that have collaborated either jointly or severally, overtly or covertly, consciously or otherwise, to make this attainable were being rewarded in the open.

NIGAV awards have, over the years, he noted has helped to boost healthy competition amongst industry stakeholders involved in service delivery, and to promote and instill a culture of adherence to best practices.

These he hinted have become a catalyst for quality service delivery among competing categories of NIGAV service awards in Nigeria including airport management, aeronautic and non-aeronautic services, media, hospitality, airlines, sundry aviation support vendors, lounge services, shuttle services, agencies and institutions, to mention but a few.

“I dare say the supervising Ministry of Transportation greatly appreciates, and is fully in support of, NIGAV.”

He lauded the organisers of this award, FCI International Limited, under the leadership of Mr. Fortune Idu, and his dedicated team, for a job well-done unrelentingly these past seven years.

He added that creating this nomination and selection process that considers for reward all aspects of air transport as one, albeit integrated units, and establishing this platform that actually recognises and rewards winners, is highly commendable.
