Ten year feud ends as Arik moves PH operations to MMA2

  • MMA2 facilities rank among best in the world-Arik’s VP

 It is official. Arik Air, Nigeria’s flag carrier airline today, moved its Port-Harcourt flights to the imposing, multi-billion naira Murtala Muhammed Airport 2, popularly called MMA2.

For more than ten years, both the management of Arik led by a former owner of Arik, Sir Arumeni Johnson-Ikhide and Chairman Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL) Dr. Wale Babalakin engaged each other in a war of words over relocation of the airline to MMA2, considered to be the best airport terminal in Lagos.

Since Arik was taken over by the Assets Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON), there seems to be a new rapport bet the carrier and BASL as many were excited over end to a face-off that spanned over a decade.

Meanwhile, the airline has rewarded passengers who checked in early for the three flights the carrier operated today out of the terminal to Port-Harcourt. Fifteen economy class tickets and five business class tickets were given out to the lucky passengers.

Speaking at the occasion witnessed by the airline chiefs, top Bi-Courtney officials and the media, Vice-President Ground Operations for Arik, Murat Ozcan lauded the move describing MMA2 as the best terminal in Nigeria with ‘world class facilities’.

He described it as a milestone for the airline, saying passengers were extremely excited with the experience at the terminal.

He said, “Arik coming to MMA2 is good for our passengers. It is a comfortable place for our guests. They love it here . I am happy with the new partnership with Bi-Courtney.”

“Arik is giving out 20 tickets. Fifteen for economy class passengers who check in early and five for business class passengers.”

Speaking in the same vein, spokesman for Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited Mr. Steve Omolale thanked Arik for partnering with the firm, stressing that it would ensure that they make life comfortable for airlines operating from the terminal including Arik.
