Shadare Elected Among 100 Aviation Business Leaders In Nigeria

Aviation Editor, New Telegraph Newspapers and publisher Aviation Metric, Wole Shadare has been selected as one of the top 100 Aviation Business Leaders in Nigeria.

The award, according to Publisher, African Travel Quarterly (ATQ) Magazine and organizer, Akwaaba African Travel Market, the first travel market in West Africa, Amb. Ikechi Uko was in honour and recognition of 100 individuals that have contributed and still contributing to the development of aviation in Nigeria.

The awardees cut across the media, government agencies, airline operators, aviation service operators, aircraft engineers among others

Uko, while presenting the award to Shadare at a well attended Cargo and Export expo and exhibition held at the prestigious Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, said he merited the selection because of his immense contribution to the development of the industry.

He emphasized that the role of the media in a difficult sector like aviation can never be over emphasized, adding that Shadare forms a core of very vibrant aviation journalists in Nigeria, Africa and around the globe.

Wole Shadare hails from Ikire in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State, Nigeria.

He started his quest for education at the Premier Primary School, Amaifeke, Orlu, Imo State.

After his First School Leaving Certificate, he proceeded to Boys High School, Ihube, Okigwe, Imo State where he obtained his Junior Secondary School Certificate.

Shadare later enrolled at Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Egbu, Owerri where he obtained his Senior Secondary School Certificate.

For his University education, Shadare gained admission to the University of Ilorin where he bagged a Bachelors of Arts (Honours) in Linguistics.

Not satisfied with the first degree and his quest for more knowledge, he enrolled with the Lagos State University for his Post Graduate Diploma in International Relations and Strategic Studies (PGD IRSS).

 Upon completion of the PGD, he enrolled for his Masters Degrees in International Relations and Strategic Studies in the same university and graduated in 2004 and was awarded with Masters in International Relations and Strategic Studies (MIRSS).

He started his career in The Guardian with the Saturday Newspaper in 2001, before he was through the dint of hard work, perseverance and objective coverage, rose to become the Head of the Aviation Desk of the newspaper. He left The Guardian in 2014 for New Telegraph where he is currently Aviation Editor.

Regarded as the most travelled aviation journalist in Nigeria, he has in the course of his career visited over a hundred countries in Europe, United States, Africa, South America, North America and Asia for aviation and airline conferences. He has also attended many other aviation conferences in Nigeria.

In 2009, 2010 and 2016, he was nominated for the Aviation Reporter of the year by the National Media Merit Award (NMMA). He won the NMMA award as Best Aviation Reporter in 2010 and 2017.

Shadare is married with three children.
