Osoba, Duke among stranded Arik London passengers

Prominent Nigerians where among hundreds of passengers that were left stranded in London following inability of Arik to airlift passengers from London Heathrow Airport.

Some of the prominent Nigerians were former Governor of Ogun and Cross River States, Aremo Olusegun Osoba and Donald Duke.

One of the passengers who called yesterday alleged that Arik Air cancelled its Sept 13 flight to Nigeria without telling the passengers the whys and wherefores surrounding such unilateral decision.

Passengers who’re yet to board the aircraft were said to have got the ruddest shock of their lives when the cancellation was officially announced around 9.48pm Tuesday night (Sept 13).

The source said there was confusion momentarily at the Arik desk in Gate 14, Terminal 4 of the Heathrow Airport.

To add salt to the injury, all the passengers became stranded at airport, waiting for the bus provided by Arik to take them to their hotels.

The source who spoke under condition of anonymity sid most of the passengers did not get to their hotels until very late at night.

Arik management has not issued any official statement even up till now to explain the position of things and the plans in the offing to take the passengers back to Nigeria.
