FAAN makes U-turn, to pay workers full salaries
Arising from Unions/Management meeting, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has rescinded the decision to pay workers 50 percent of their May salaries.
In an internal circular to the workers by the unions comprising the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) dated May 21,2020 congratulated staff of the agency saying the U-turn was made by the management of FAAN after extensive negotiations that lasted the whole day.
On the proposed payment of half salary for the month of May, 2020, the unions disclosed that
full Payment of May salary across all grade levels was reached while subsequent months will be subject to improvement in revenue generation.
FAAN had caused a scare few days ago when it announced that it may not be able to pay full salary of staff as from May 2020 until the situation.
The agency stated that as soon as revenue situation improves, the balance will be paid.
In an internal memo sighted by Woleshadarenews with reference number FAAN/HQ/ADMIN/2020O5 dated May 19, 2020 and signed by General Manager, Administration, FAAN.
Titled, “Notice on payment of staff salary” addressed to all staff, the memo stated that the measure was to ensure the survival of the organization.
