Despite challenges, Medview impresses on Lagos-London route

*Set to begin Dubai in summer
The Managing Director of Nigeria’s flag carrier airline, Medview, Alhaji Muneer Bankole said the challenges of operating Lagos-London are enormous but noted that the carrier has done very well as could be rated as the best Nigerian airline on the lucrative route.

Speaking yesterday at Medview Airline Trade Partners Forum held at Sheraton Hotels, Ikeja, the airline chief said they studied what Nigerians wanted that other major international carriers operating the route lacked and capitalised on it to attract customers, adding that the load factor since it started service has been very encouraging.
Bankole further stated that the Nigerian cuisines introduced onboard, coupled with products such as its fully flat beds in upper class configuration of its double aisle plane, 73kg baggage allowance and competitive fares ensure that they have a near full flight.
Bankole also used the occasion which brought together travel agents across the country to unveil its new General Sales Agent (GSA), Anta, its planned commencement of flight to Dubai, its partnership with leading Global Distribution System (GDS), Amadeus among other products.
Amadeus IT Group is a multinational IT Provider for the global travel and tourism industry.  Acting as an international network, Amadeus provides search, pricing, booking, ticketing and other processing services in real-time to travel providers and travel agencies through its Amadeus CRS distribution business area.
 Through its IT Solutions business area, it also offers travel companies software systems   which automate processes such as reservations, inventory management and departure control.
The group, which processed 850 million billable travel transactions in 2010, services customers including airlines, hotels, tour operators, insurers, car rental and railway companies, ferry and cruise and individual travellers directly
According to Bankole, “Medview is going on fleet expansion. We have gone to sign GDS pact with Amadeus and by May 15, 2016, we will go live on Amadeus. We are about to open Dubai route which is going to be in the summer. We will be competitive on fares on the route. We are holding talks with our GSA, Anta.”
